Living with Living Wage: A ‘Happily Ever After’ Story
Presented by: Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF), Trico Charitable Foundation and Vibrant Communities Calgary
Calgary event explores the stories of local entrepreneurs’ community commitment & extends a challenge
Minimum Wage just doesn’t cut it in an economy like Calgary’s. On Tuesday, March 6th ‘Living Wage Leaders’ in our community will speak to fellow entrepreneurs about their success running a business and paying employees the Living Wage (no less than $12.50/hour with benefits or $13.75/hour without benefits).
By engaging entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs-to-be to take the ‘Living Wage’ pledge, Vibrant Communities Calgary, Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) and the Trico Charitable Foundation (TCF) are promoting the integration of socially-minded business practices into all aspects of business. As such, event attendees will also learn about financing and mentoring available from CYBF (supported by TCF) that aids entrepreneurs in their quest to build socially-minded business practices, such as paying a Living Wage, into their operations.
There are currently 95,000 Calgarians earning less than the Living Wage.
Speakers:
Bruce Martin, General Manager of Community Natural Foods
Lindsay Ross, Owner of Babes in Arms and Barbara MacLean-Stollery, Owner of Executive Airways Grooming Services, both CYBF entrepreneurs
This event is an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to network with like-minded business owners over light bites and refreshments.
