George Marsland is the President of Global Development Group (GDG), an organization which provides programs, strategic advice, and resources with associated companies involved in a variety of assistance programs. Currently, his company emphasizes important problems in Brazil, Central America, and the Middle East such as national youth issues, adequate medical services and housing, as well as environmental concerns. By addressing these issues, GDG aims to help provide governments in these countries with direction on structural, social and economic aspects.

Prior to his work with GDG, Mr. Marsland was employed as the Advisor to CEO Belinda Stronach of Magna International Inc. from 2002 until Ms. Stronach left the company to pursue a career in public office in 2005. During his tenure, he not only provided strategic advice and planning for Ms. Stronach but also acted as Director of Corporate Citizenship. In this position he was responsible for developing and managing national programs that focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership and global development.

From 1984 to 1986 he was a Regional Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister Brian Mulroney in Ottawa. There he coordinated and managed advisory committees for national appointments and Cabinet appointments in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

Mr. Marsland is also a very dedicated and committed volunteer to many worthy organizations. In 2004 he was a member of the Deans Global Advisory Committee on Executive Education Programs at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He has also been on numerous Boards of Directors, including the Resurgence Theatre Company, Casey House Hospice, Instituto Negocios da Juventude in Brazil, and recently the Canadian Youth Business Foundation.

Mr. Marsland has an Economics and Law degree from the University of Western Ontario.


The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is the ‘go to’ place for youth entrepreneurship. As a national charity, we are dedicated to growing our nation’s economy one young entrepreneur at a time. We look at character not collateral, when providing youth, age 18-34, with pre-launch coaching, business resources, start-up financing and mentoring, to help them launch and sustain a successful entrepreneurial business.
