After co-founding Elastic Path in 2000, Mr. Chemko has grown the company to become a leader in enterprise ecommerce software, competing with giants such as IBM and Microsoft. As an extension to Elastic Path's core software business, Mr. Chemko negotiated the exclusive rights to ecommerce operations for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This business unit includes a world-class online store, fulfillment, merchandising, and customer service. In another notable transaction, Mr. Chemko negotiated a partnership with leading infrastructure software vender BEA Systems, in which the $7 Billion company re-sells Elastic Path as their own branded AquaLogic Commerce Services to their customer base of 18,000. BEA has recently been acquired by Oracle Corporation.
Mr. Chemko has grown Elastic Path organically at an average annual growth rate of over 70% without any outside equity. The company, with over 120 staff, has attracted over 180 customers, including global brands such as Aeroplan, Nike, Time Inc., Avis, Samsonite, Random House, and United Health Group. In 2008, Elastic Path won the Business Development Bank of Canada’s Young Entrepreneur Award, as well as Export Development Canada’s Export Excellence Award. Mr. Chemko has led the company to receive the Canadian Youth Business Foundation’s National 2005 Best Business Award, as well as to earning a spot at #14 on Profit Magazine’s Hot 50. He also received the 2005 Young Entrepreneur Award for being the youngest CEO on the Profit Hot 50. More recently, Elastic Path Software was listed at #23 on the Profit 100, the definitive guide to Canada's fastest growing companies. Mr. Chemko sits on the Board and the Audit and Finance Committee of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, a $14 million non-profit organization dedicated to empowering aspiring young Canadian entrepreneurs to start their own businesses. In February 2007, Mr. Chemko was featured as an Emerging Entrepreneur by the National Post.
Mr. Chemko attended Royal Roads University, receiving a B.Com in Entrepreneurial Management, and also the Eric C. Douglass Award for excellence in entrepreneurship.
