Lorna Telfer joined Ivanhoe Cambridge as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary in February 2010. In this capacity, she is a member of the Investment and Management Committees.
Ms. Telfer plays a key role in Ivanhoe Cambridge's international business activities, including acquisitions, sales, financing, developments and joint ventures. She is responsible for the Company's legal affairs, including secretariat and corporate governance matters.
Before joining Ivanhoe Cambridge, Ms. Telfer was a partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where she began her career in 1978. She practiced in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities law in Canada and abroad.
Ms. Telfer has spoken at many conferences on corporate law and governance matters including for the Conference Board of Canada and DeGroote School of Business' Directors College, the Quebec and American bar associations and at Harvard, Columbia and Stanford Law Schools.
In 2005, Ms. Telfer was named a finalist in the Réseau des femmes d'affaires du Québec awards. Ms. Telfer is a founding member of the Montreal chapter of the Women Presidents' Organizations. She has served as a director for many organizations, including Investissements Québec, and is currently a director of the Canadian Business Youth Foundation and the McCord Museum of Canadian History.
A graduate of McGill University in Civil Law, Ms. Telfer is a member of the Barreau du Québec, and the Canadian and American Bar Associations.
