STAGE 2: STARTING YOUR BUSINESS
CYBF Canadian Newcomer Entrepreneur Program
CYBF is proud to offer the CYBF Canadian Newcomer Program. This program has been designed to help individuals between the ages of 18 to 34, who are new to Canada, access pre-launch coaching, start-up financing, mentoring and business resources to start a business. This program is being piloted in British Columbia and Ontario.
How This Program Is Different To Help You
CYBF recognizes that young people often face significant barriers to starting their own business and that newcomers to Canada sometimes face additional barriers such as language difficulties and requirements for Canadian credit history or work experience. That's why our application process and program caters to you and your needs. Our program includes:
- Loan assessment requirements that have been altered to capture individuals who do not have credit history or long standing references
- CYBF will attempt to match each new entrepreneur with a mentor who shares the same first language and who has a strong knowledge of the Canadian small business market.
Next Steps
So you're interested, but want to know where to go and what to do next?
Before applying to the CYBF program, you will need to start by thinking about and writing a Business Plan. You can use our Interactive Business Planner found on our web site to help guide you in writing your plan.
While you are writing your Business Plan, return to the CYBF web site and go to the Contact Your Local Community Partner page of our site to find the CYBF Community Partner organization closest to your home or place of business. Your local CYBF Community Partner will help you with your application to the Newcomer Program and can answer any questions you might have, so contact them today! Don’t forget CYBF can also help you with your business plan through our Pre-Launch Coaching by our Entrepreneur-In-Residence.
In addition to your Business Plan, you will also need to get a letter from your bank confirming your account status, as well as reference letters in order to complete your application for the Newcomer Program. A sample of each of these items is available by clicking on the links below.
Once you have completed your Business Plan, have your Bank Letter and References ready, you will need to submit your online application to CYBF. Contact your Community Partner to get the access code to register in our system and then complete the online application form. CYBF will then begin the process of reviewing your application.
