CYBF's Mentoring Philosophy

CYBF believes that young people have great ideas and a passion for entrepreneurship, but may not have all of the business skills and experience they need to reach their dreams.

That’s where our Mentoring Program comes in – we match you with a business mentor who has the skills and experience you need and who is eager to share what they know in order to help you succeed! CYBF believes face-to-face mentoring is the most valuable tool you’ll ever have.

CYBF recognized that implementing a mandatory Mentoring Program would dramatically improve the entrepreneur’s ability to succeed. This has been proven over the 4 years the Mentoring Program has been in effect. CYBF has seen business success rise exponentially!

CYBF will hand-match you with a mentor and the relationship is established through the participation in the MENT2B™ Online Orientation Program. This Orientation Program is accessible once your CYBF loan has been approved and you have been matched with a mentor on your Entrepreneur Home Page when you log into your Profile.

The MENT2B™ Orientation Program

MENT2B™ is a world-class mentoring orientation program that will guide you and your mentor through establishing the framework for your relationship.

This interactive program is accessed online and was designed by leading experts in the field of mentoring to help establish a strong foundation for the CYBF mentoring relationship. You and your mentor will be asked to consider some key questions and to set objectives for your future interaction.

MENT2B™ revolves around the three key stages of the mentoring cycle:

Establishing a Relationship, Maintaining a Relationship and the Relationship Close.

Participation in the MENT2B™ Program continues to be mandatory for all CYBF financed entrepreneurs. You are required to meet in person with their mentor to kick-start the relationship, and then monthly for 2 years.

The Mentoring Profiler

The Mentoring Profiler is a self-assessment tool that can be accessed by logging into your Entrepreneur Home Page. This tool will help you understand your relational style and how to work with people of similar or different relational styles. The Profiler can be done at any time or as a complement to the MENT2B™ Orientation Program.


The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is the ‘go to’ place for youth entrepreneurship. As a national charity, we are dedicated to growing our nation’s economy one young entrepreneur at a time. We look at character not collateral, when providing youth, age 18-34, with pre-launch coaching, business resources, start-up financing and mentoring, to help them launch and sustain a successful entrepreneurial business.
