Wayne Chiu

Founder, Trico Developments Corporation
Mr. Chiu, an engineer by profession, immigrated to Canada in 1982. After two years as a design engineer, the economic downturn of the mid-eighties precipitated a move to self-employment. Wayne’s entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of a small business – an ice cream shop in Esso Plaza Food Court! One year, and many scoops later, he sold the business to return to the engineering and construction field.
After several years in the real estate and construction industries, further entrepreneurship led to the establishment of two new companies in 1989 – Trico Developments Corporation, active in real estate development, and Wincon Property Management Inc. Trico’s first development was a joint venture in the construction of several multi-family projects and small shopping centres, providing Mr. Chiu with valuable experience in the local construction industry.
Trico Homes Inc was established in Calgary in 1993. In the first year of operation, Trico Homes built twelve single family homes. Over the past decade, Trico Homes has continued to grow and develop as a well-respected and successful builder, having built over 4500 quality single and multi-family homes in the Calgary area. Currently ranked as one of Calgary’s top residential builders, Trico has built an enviable reputation for integrity, innovative design, quality workmanship and customer service. The people of Trico Homes bring their best to every community under the insightful and dynamic leadership of Mr. Chiu.
Wayne, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Manitoba and a qualified master builder, serves as a Director of the Professional Home Builders’ Institute, and continues to be active in all aspects of strategic land development and construction.
